Day 1 – Arrival in Victoria Falls

Welcome to the adrenaline-charged adventure capital of Southern Africa – Victoria Falls! The thunderous roar of the mighty Zambezi plunging over one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World sets the perfect tone for the journey ahead.

Today is yours to savour at your own pace. Thrill-seekers can choose from an exhilarating array of optional activities, while those seeking a gentler introduction can wander colourful craft markets or indulge in the timeless elegance of high tea at the iconic Victoria Falls Hotel.

Your adventure crew will meet in the reception of Shearwater Explorers Village at 17:00. This evening, join an optional group dinner at a local restaurant – the ideal opportunity to connect with fellow travellers and toast the start of an unforgettable journey (booking arranged by your guide).

Day 2 – Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park, Botswana

A short, scenic drive brings us across the border into Botswana and the vast Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area – a wildlife haven spanning five countries. We settle into our riverside camp on the banks of the legendary Chobe River in time for an unforgettable afternoon boat cruise. Drift silently along the water as enormous elephant herds come down to drink and bathe at golden hour – one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife spectacles.

Day 3 – Chobe to Nata

Leaving the lush Chobe riverfront behind, we venture south into the heart of the Kalahari. The landscape gradually transforms from dense riverine forest into classic African bushveld before opening onto the shimmering expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans near Nata.

Day 4 – Nata to Khwai Conservation Area

*Important:* Pack a small overnight bag today – you will be separated from the main truck for the next two nights.

We pause at a seasonal viewpoint over the vast Makgadikgadi Salt Pans before transferring in open 4×4 safari vehicles to the pristine Khwai Conservation Area, neighbouring the world-famous Okavango Delta. In the late afternoon, glide silently through reed-lined channels on a traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) as the delta comes alive with bird calls and the setting sun paints the waterways gold. (Note: the mokoro excursion may take place the following morning depending on water levels.)

Day 5 – Moremi Game Reserve

A full day exploring the magnificent Moremi Game Reserve in open 4×4 vehicles. Traverse floodplains, mopane forests, and permanent lagoons in search of lion, leopard, wild dog, elephant herds, and countless antelope species. Expect bumpy tracks, spectacular sightings, and the raw thrill of true wilderness immersion. Return to camp at dusk to swap stories around the fire.

Day 6 – Khwai to Maun

An early 4×4 transfer returns us to Maun, gateway to the Okavango Delta, where we rejoin the Nomad truck and enjoy a relaxed afternoon.

Day 7 – Maun to Divundu, Namibia

Crossing into Namibia’s lush Zambezi Region (formerly Caprivi Strip), we follow the course of the Kavango River to the peaceful riverside town of Divundu.

Day 8 – Divundu & Kavango River

A gentle morning boat cruise reveals abundant birdlife, basking crocodiles, and pods of hippo. The afternoon is free for an optional game drive in Mahangu National Park – renowned for sable, roan, and frequent elephant sightings.

Day 9 – Divundu to Etosha National Park

We journey westward to the gates of iconic Etosha National Park – 22,270 km² of savanna, woodland, and the vast shimmering Etosha Pan, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife arenas.

Day 10 – Etosha National Park

Morning game drive in the Nomad truck exploring waterholes teeming with wildlife. Return to camp for lunch and a leisurely afternoon – perfect for relaxing by the floodlit waterhole (at certain camps).

Day 11 – Etosha National Park

A full day immersed in Etosha’s magic. We criss-cross the park, visiting the best waterholes and scanning the horizons for predator action – no two game drives are ever the same.

Day 12 – Etosha to Brandberg

We travel south through Damaraland to the dramatic Brandberg massif – Namibia’s highest mountain. In the late afternoon (or following morning), embark on a guided ±2-hour return hike along the Tsisab Gorge to view the famous 2,000-year-old “White Lady” rock painting and dozens of other ancient San artworks.

Day 13 – Brandberg to Swakopmund

Coastal-bound! We pause to marvel at the colourful lichen fields (with expert commentary) and photograph the quirky seaside settlement of Wlotzkasbaken before arriving in charming Swakopmund – Namibia’s adventure playground nestled between desert and Atlantic Ocean.

Day 14 – Swakopmund

A free day to explore this German-influenced coastal gem. Stroll palm-lined streets, savour world-class pastries, or choose from an exciting menu of optional adventures – from sandboarding and quad-biking to marine cruises and skydiving.

Day 15 – Swakopmund to Sesriem

Bidding farewell to the ocean, we cross the Tropic of Capricorn and turn inland to the Namib Desert. This afternoon, a local expert leads an enlightening walk revealing the astonishing adaptations of desert life – a perfect prelude to the towering dunes ahead.

Day 16 – Sossusvlei & Namib-Naukluft National Park

An early start to catch the dunes at sunrise. Climb the iconic Dune 45 for panoramic views as the sands shift from apricot to fiery red. After breakfast, a 4×4 shuttle takes us deeper into the dune sea to explore the surreal white clay pans of Deadvlei and the towering dunes of Sossusvlei on foot. We also visit dramatic Sesriem Canyon before returning to camp.

Day 17 – Namib Desert to Keetmanshoop

A long but scenic travel day eastward, ending with a late-afternoon visit to the enchanting Quiver Tree Forest and the bizarre dolerite boulder formations of the Giant’s Playground.

Day 18 – Keetmanshoop to Fish River Canyon & Orange River

Stand on the rim of Africa’s largest canyon – second only to the Grand Canyon in scale – before descending south to the lush banks of the Orange River for our final night in Namibia. Optional late-afternoon canoe paddle available.

Day 19 – Orange River to Cederberg, South Africa

Our final border crossing brings us into South Africa. Travelling through the starkly beautiful Namaqualand region (famous for spring wildflowers Jul–Sep), we arrive in the ruggedly scenic Cederberg mountains.

Day 20 – Cederberg to Cape Town

Savour sweeping views of the Cederberg’s jagged peaks and learn about the region’s famous Rooibos tea. As Table Mountain rises on the horizon, we pause for a classic Table Bay photo before arriving in the Mother City, where your extraordinary African adventure comes to an end.
